REGULAR MEETING

VILLAGE BOARD OF THE VILLAGE OF LAKE VILLA

April 23, 2008

 

 

 

CALL TO ORDER:                   The Regular Meeting of the Village Board of the Village of Lake Villa was called to order at 8:05 p.m. on April 23, 2008 at the Lake Villa Village Hall.

 

SALUTE THE FLAG:                The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Frank Loffredo.

 

ROLL CALL:                             Roll call indicated the following present:  Mayor Loffredo; Attorney Bateman; Clerk Brownlee; Trustees Dykstra, Effinger, Harms, McDonald and Trkla.  Trustee Hall was absent.  With a quorum present the meeting was called to order.

 

MINUTES:                                   It was moved by Tr. Effinger and seconded by Tr. Harms to approve the minutes of the April 9, 2008 Village Board Meeting.

                                                      ROLL CALL VOTE WAS:         AYES:    5              MOTION CARRIED

 

MAYOR:

Class “F” Liquor License          It was moved by Tr. McDonald and seconded by Tr. Harms to approve a class “F” Liquor License with a fee of $50.00 for Lakes Community High School Booster Club for April 26, 2008 at the American Aid Society on Grand Avenue as discussed.

                                                      ROLL CALL VOTE WAS:         AYES:    5              MOTION CARRIED

 

WATER & SEWER:

Change Order #4 – Water

Facilities Building                       It was moved by Tr. Harms and seconded by Tr. Dykstra to approve Change Order #4 – Water Facilities Building, as recommended by the engineer, resulting in an increase of the contract by $10,872.75.  The new contract amount will be $1,629,431.66.

                                                      ROLL CALL VOTE WAS:         AYES:    5              MOTION CARRIED

 

BUILDING & ZONING:

Zoning Compliance Approval

ABC Flood Restoration &

JMK Bookkeeping                     It was moved by Tr. Effinger and seconded by Tr. McDonald to approve the Zoning Compliance Applications for ABC Flood Restoration  of 416 Hubbard Lane and JMK Bookkeeping of 337 Cedar Ridge. 

                                                      ROLL CALL VOTE WAS:         AYES:    5              MOTION CARRIED

 

Sign Permits                                It was moved by Tr. Effinger and seconded by Tr. McDonald to approve sign permits for the following businesses:  Sights and Sounds; State Bank of the Lakes (Lake Villa Community Bank); Tile Care, Inc.; Rosen Mall signs; and temporary Lakes Area Booster Club sign and forward onto the Architectural Review Board.

                                                      ROLL CALL VOTE WAS:         AYES:    6 (Trustees Dykstra, Effinger, Harms, McDonald, Trkla and Mayor Loffredo)                         MOTION CARRIED

 

CITIZENS TO ADDRESS

THE BOARD:                             Justin Kargul of 802 Amber Lane was representing Amber Field Lakes Homeowners Association with matters of concern in their subdivision.  They are looking for guidance to remedy some issues such as problems with drainage from a new development to the east and the lack of participation to solve these problems from the entire homeowners group in Amber Fields.  It was suggested they retain legal aid.

 

ADJOURNMENT:                     It was moved by Tr. Effinger and seconded by Tr. McDonald to adjourn the regular meeting of the Village of Lake Villa at 8:55 pm.
