Village of Lake Villa, Illinois

The Village of Lake Villa will hold its 14th Annual "Cross-town Classic" this Sunday, August 18 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake Villa Baseball Park located at 349 E. Grass Lake Road.

This is a fundraiser for the continuous improvement and up keep at the state of the art complex which has won the Home Town Governors award for one of the top community projects in Illinois.

This year for the 14th time the spectacle of all raffles will take place... the famous "Helicopter Ball Drop".  Weather permitting; Nielsen Development will drop the baseballs from a helicopter 200 feet in the air.  The closest ball to 2nd base splits the pot.  In the event of inclement weather, Lake Villa Volunteer Fire Department's hook and ladder truck will be used.  It is $10.00 per baseball.  There is a limit of 200 baseballs.  The drop is scheduled for between approximately 3:30-4:00 p.m.

Also, the Lake Villa Queens will be holding a 50/50 raffle all day long.  We will be serving refreshments... it is the only day of year the Park has a liquor license.  The Lake Villa Township Baseball League will have a full concession stand service.

Come out and enjoy the fun and watch your favorite Mayors, Trustees, Supervisors, Police Officers, Firemen and Village employees tear up the diamond.  A lot of comments, laughs and downright serious softball goes on in the one day Tournament.
