Lake Villa, Illinois – On May 1, Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) will take over the weekly collection of trash and recycling for residential properties in the Village.
At the February 20, 2024 Village Board meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a 6-year contract with LRS as the Village’s new garbage and recycling hauler. The decision to change haulers was driven by cost considerations, the Village’s commitment to customer service, and interest in maintaining current service offerings.
In October of last year, the Village engaged in a competitive bidding process for waste hauling services in anticipation of its expiring contract with Waste Management on April 30, 2024. Sealed proposals from three firms (Waste Management, Groot, and LRS) were opened publicly on October 30, 2023 (bid tab available here). LRS was the only vendor to provide a bid on leaf vacuuming services and offered additional savings to the Village overall.
Effective May 1st, 2024, LRS will provide garbage, recycling, yard waste and fall leaf collection services for Village of Lake Villa residents. Waste Management carts will be removed April 24th – April 30th on the service day. Please contact Waste Management after May 1, 2024 if your Waste Management carts have not yet been collected.
