2024 Upcoming Programs

  • February 27, 2024   Genealogy 101
    • Join us for a special presentation given by the Lake County Genealogical Society.  The digital age has revolutionized the field of genealogy, making it easier than ever to access records online.  This example-based presentation will give an overview of how to start a family tree, how to develop research goals, and how to conduct research.  Karen Kunz and Claire Kasamis from the LCIGS will lead us on a fascinating personal journey of self-discovery.
  • April 16, 2024  The Cicadas are coming!!
    • In late May of this year an extremely rare "double brood emergence" of periodical and annual cicadas will occur in Northern Illinois.  It is estimated that trillions of insects will tunnel to the surface, mate, lay eggs and then die during an approximate 6-week period.  This hasn't happened since 1803 when Thomas Jefferson was President!  Join us for a special program given by the Environmental Education staff of the Lake County Forest Preserve.
