Village of Lake Villa, Illinois

Lake Villa borders the Sun Lake Forest Preserve which has walking trails that connect to Frank Loffredo Park and the Lake Villa Baseball Park.  All village parks are open from sunrise to sundown. No watercraft over 10 horsepower can be launched from any of our parks.

Parks

1. Lehmann Park provides swimming in Cedar Lake, a boat launch, volleyball, a picnic shelter with tables and grills, horseshoe pits, playground equipment and restrooms. It is a favorite among residents. Lehmann Park is located at 148 Cedar Avenue (west side of Cedar Avenue between Route 83 and Grand Avenue; across the street from the Metra Station). Parking is restricted to village residents only and requires a resident vehicle sticker.  Non-residents may park in the Metra parking lots.  Parking on Cedar Avenue for the beach and park is prohibited.  Resident may launch boats at no cost.  Non-residents must pay a daily fee of $100/watercraft to use the boat launch. You can pay for the daily fee at the Village Hall. No watercraft over ten horsepower can be launched into the lake from the boat launch.  Village residents may reserve the Pavilion.

2. Steven Sherwood Memorial Park has a tot playground, tennis courts, horseshoe pit, and a shelter. Steven Sherwood Memorial Park's entrance is located between 39 & 41 Kevin Avenue. Take Grand Avenue west to McKinley Avenue. Kevin is the 3rd street on the right.

3. Glacier Park has a swimming beach and boat launch.  Glacier Park is located at 700 Waters Edge Drive at the entrance of Waters Edge Apartments on Grand Avenue. A gate key is required in order to access the Glacier Park parking lot.  No watercraft over ten horsepower can be launched into the lake.  Prior to launching a boat, both residents and non-residents need to obtain a key to access the boat launch.  The annual cost of the key is $10.00 for residents and $500.00 for non-residents.

4. Frank M. Loffredo Park was developed on a 17-acre parcel funded, in part, with a grant from the Open Space Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Program from Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The park is located at 485 N. Milwaukee Avenue (in front of the Lehmann Mansion property). Facilities include football, soccer, field hockey, softball and baseball fields; hockey rink (summer and winter, weather permitting) and approximately half mile-long handicap-accessible pedestrian loop with exercise stations and interpretive signs. The park also has a skateboard park, disc golf course, pavilion, restrooms and a connection to the Lake County Sun Lake Forest Preserve. Parking is open to the public and does not require a resident sticker.

Park Reservations

Reservations can be made by completing the Park Pavilion Reservation Form (PDF) and returning it to Village Hall at 65 Cedar Avenue or over the phone. If residency is claimed, proof of residency must be presented prior to payment. Payment it due at the time the reservation is made.

1. Cedar Ridge Estates Tot Lot: Located at the entrance of Cedar Ridge Drive, this Tot Lot is 1/8 acre in size and has a playground
2. Cedar Crossings I Tot Lot: Situated between 900 Charlton Road & 594 Amherst Drive, this Tot Lot is 2 acres in size and has a playground
3. Cedar Crossing II Tot Lot: Found between 906 & 912 Park Avenue, this Tot Lot is 1 acre in size and has a playground
4. Painted Lakes Tot Lot I: Placed at the intersection of Painted Lakes Blvd. & Clearview Lane, this Tot Lot is 2 acres in size and has a playground and basketball court
5. Painted Lakes Tot Lot II: Set at the intersection of Painted Lakes Blvd. & Spring Farm Road, this Tot Lot is 1/8 acre in size and has a playground
6. Savanna Springs Tot Lot: Sited at the intersection of Oakton Lane & Savanna Spring, this Tot Lot is 1/3 acre in size and has a playground

Forest Preserves

Lake Villa is located near many Lake County Forest Preserves that provide recreational opportunities such as hiking/biking paths, cross-country skiing, picnic tables, dog exercise area and fishing.
