Project Description

The objective of this project is to reconstruct the dry land bridge located on IL Route 132 (Grand Avenue) east of Cedar Lake Road in Lake Villa. The project will consist of roadway widening, resurfacing and other ADA improvements. The Project is being managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

Latest Construction Update

Updated September 8, 2023

• Two-way traffic on Grand Avenue is being maintained to the east exit of Timothy O'Toole's restaurant and on-site parking. The Village continues to work with IDOT to maintain and improve access to the restaurant.
• The westbound lane has shifted to the north prior to Cedar Avenue to accommodate the a new storm sewer that will be installed along the southside of Grand Avenue. Intermittent lane closures will be in place beginning next week, and flaggers will be present, to assist with traffic navigation through this area. 
• The Contractor continues to drive pilings, prepare and pour the bridge bents that will be in place to support the new roadway deck. Contractors are working from the ends of the project toward the middle of the project site. Significant noise and vibration throughout the corridor during construction working hours will continue. Special monitoring equipment is installed to measure construction impacts on adjacent and impacted structures. No observable problems were encountered during the test piling process over the past several weeks.

Funding Amount/Source:  $8,715,213 and is being funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)

Construction Hours:  Contractors are working from 7:30am – 3:30pm
