The Lake Villa Police Dept. works with our residents as a partnership to help deter crime and catch criminals.

One way you can help us is to provide information.

Please call us at 847-356-6106 or contact our detective at egomez@lake-villa.org

You can give us information anonymously....we want your information not your name.

We also work with Crime Stoppers so your information could lead to a cash reward even without providing your name.

We look forward to working together to help provide a safe community.

Dear Resident,

The Lake Villa Police Department would like to remind residents of our Neighborhood Policing Program. This program is designed to promote a partnership and facilitate communication between the residents and the police department.  The Lake Villa Police Department wants to give the citizens a contact within the police department that they can use for non-emergency reasons. Each subdivision is assigned a neighborhood police officer that the resident can contact. You can ask questions, report activity (speeding vehicles, graffiti, extra patrol requests, etc.), give anonymous tips regarding criminal or suspicious behavior, or other general concerns.  This program is not meant for in progress or emergency situations. Please call 9-1-1 for emergency assistance or (847)356-6106 for non-emergency.

Below is a list of the subdivisions and the police officer that is assigned to that area.  You can reach the officer by email or by calling (847)356-6106 and leaving a message at their extension.  Please understand the officer may not be working that day so it may be a few days before he/she is able to return your message.  If you do not live in a subdivision, Lt. DeCaro is your assigned officer. As always, we are here to serve the community. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me anytime.

Respectfully,

Rochelle Tisinai

House Watch:

To residents who are leaving town for spring break or other travel plans please remember the police department offers a house watch program.  Residents can either come to the police department to request a house watch or electronically submit a request by going to the police department/forms section of this website.

Public Safety:

A common statement made to our officers by residents is that they had seen or heard something and thought about calling the police but did not because they assumed it was not important or they didn't want to bother us.  The police department encourages that you call us when this happens. Things such as your pet dog barking at something outside in the middle of the night or a strange vehicle seen in your neighborhood can be helpful information for our officers.  Please understand you don't have to give your name to the dispatcher if you do not want to.

Listed below are new ordinances, that have not yet been codified:
  • None Currently Available

Burglary Prevention Tips

  • Make your home look occupied and make it difficult to break in.
  • Lock all outside doors and windows before you leave the house or go to bed. Even if it is for a short time, lock your doors.
  • Leave lights on when you go out. If you are going to be away for a length of time, connect some lamps to automatic timers to turn them on in the evening and off during the day.
  • Keep our garage door closed and locked
  • Don't allow daily deliveries of mail, newspapers or flyers build up while you are away. Arrange with the Post Office to hold your mail, or arrange for a friend or neighbor to take them regularly.
  • Arrange for your lawn to be mowed if you are going away for an extended period of time.
  • Sliding glass doors are vulnerable. Special locks are available for better security.
  • Pushbutton locks on doorknobs are easy for burglars to open. Install deadbolt locks on all of your outside doors.

Additional Tips

  • Never leave keys under doormats, flowerpots, mailboxes or other "secret" hiding places, burglars know where to look for hidden keys.
  • Trim your shrubbery around your home to reduce cover for burglars.
  • Be a good neighbor. If you notice anything suspicious in your neighborhood, call 911 immediately.
  • Keep a detailed inventory of your valuable possessions including serial numbers, and keep a copy in a safe place away from home. This is a good precaution in case of fire or other disasters.
  • Mark your valuables with your driver's license number.
  • Join your neighborhood watch group. The Lake Villa Police Department can help you work with your neighbors to improve security and reduce the risk of burglary.
